 What is Chiropractic

“Chiropractors are trained to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent disorders of the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, and muscles), as well as the effects these disorders can have on the nervous system and general health. As well as using a range of techniques to reduce pain, improve function and increase mobility, including hands-on manipulation of the spine, chiropractors are able to offer a package of care which includes advice on self-help, therapeutic exercises and lifestyle changes. ”

Lower Back pain
Lower back pain is the most common reason patients seek chiropractic care, along with symptoms such as; stiffness, aches, sharp pain and or tingling/ pins and needles in the legs. There are many causes for lower back pain like bulging or herniated discs, pelvic instability, pregnancy, sciatica or muscle tension. There is good evidence that spinal manipulation performed by chiropractors is an effective treatment for persistent lower back pain.

Neck Pain

Neck pain is a very common problem caused by poor posture, stress or road traffic accidents. The pain in the neck can also extend down the arms, cause a headache and/or radiate between the shoulder blades

SLIPPED DISC | PINCHED NERVE & SCIATICA

A slipped disc and/or pinched nerve, medically termed as a disc protrusion/bulge or herniation, is the most common cause of sciatica. The disc presses on the sciatic nerve in the lower back.

The sciatic nerve in the lower back extends all the way down the leg which commonly presents with symptoms like leg pain and/or lower back pain, leg ache, muscle tightness in the leg/lower back which is usually felt on one side of the body.

Chiropractic in pregnancy

Musculoskeletal conditions like pelvic and back pain are very common during pregnancy. Because over-the-counter drugs are not a recommended treatment for pain relief in pregnant women, Chiropractic care is an optimal alternative for mother and baby.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is both safe and gentle. Chiropractors use specific techniques to help and alleviate pain caused by spinal and pelvic imbalances. Our aim is to ensure mother and baby are more comfortable to promote a relaxed and stress-free pregnancy. Chiropractors also treat post-pregnancy related back pain caused by poor posture, muscle strains, lifting. etc. We offer lifestyle advice (especially postural and exercise advice) to prevent any additional stress on your body and spine.
