The first visit
In the first visit we will ask you about your relevant past medical history and discuss your current complaint. This is followed by an examination. For this you do not have to undress, however, you might be asked to show the area of pain. The chiropractor will then carry out a postural, orthopaedic and neurological examination with special focus on the area of discomfort. After this, a detailed report of the positive examination findings is given to you in a simple and easy to understand language. We will explain the reason you are in pain and will design a tailored treatment plan for you. If you are happy to proceed, we will start with the treatment. This is included in the consultation price.
The first visit will take approximately 60 minutes.
Frequently asked question
+ Painkillers vs Chiropractic
Painkillers aim to treat the symptoms of the problem and mask the pain. However, Chiropractors aim to treat the cause of the problem rather than treating the symptoms.
+ Do I need a referral from a Doctor ?
No, you don’t need a referral from your doctor. You can make an appointment directly at the Hollybush Clinic. You can either do this with the online booking option or call 01707 524 001
+ How do Chiropractors treat ?
Chiropractors use a large range of non-invasive techniques which enables them to offer personalised care to suit an individual. The main techniques are adjustments (manipulation), trigger point therapy, dry needling (also commonly known as acupuncture), stretching and mobilisation.
+ How many visits do I need ?
The treatment plan depends on many factors like age and the severity of the problem. However, the sooner you see a chiropractor for your complaint the more likely that your complaint can be resolved sooner.
+ Does chiropractic hurt?
Generally chiropractic treatments do not hurt. However, sometimes chiropractic treatments can be slightly uncomfortable when working on tender areas. Our Chiropractor Sophie will always ensure that you feel comfortable during your treatment.
