Private Healthcare Insurance

– Patient Information

Hollybush Clinic welcomes patients who wish to use private healthcare insurance towards the cost of their chiropractic treatment.

Our chiropractors are recognised by a number of private healthcare insurers, which may include AXA, Aviva, Vitality, Cigna, Simplyhealth, Bupa Cash Plan and WPA.

However, insurance policies, levels of cover and practitioner recognition vary considerably. Before starting treatment, it is the patient's responsibility to check directly with their insurer that their policy covers the proposed treatment and that their individual chiropractor is recognised under their policy.

There are two ways in which private healthcare insurance may be used at Hollybush Clinic.

Option 1 – Paying at the clinic and claiming reimbursement

Patients may pay for their treatment directly at Hollybush Clinic in the usual way and then make their own claim to their private healthcare insurer for reimbursement.

We can provide appropriate receipts or payment information to support your claim.

Please check with your insurer before treatment that your policy covers chiropractic treatment and that your chosen chiropractor is recognised by them.

Payment to the clinic does not guarantee that your insurer will reimburse you. Hollybush Clinic cannot accept responsibility where an insurer declines a claim, reimburses only part of the treatment cost, or applies an excess, treatment limit or other restriction under the patient's policy.

Option 2 – Direct billing to your insurer

For certain insurers and policies, Hollybush Clinic may be able to submit claims directly to the insurance company for authorised chiropractic treatment.

Before we can arrange direct billing, you may be asked to provide:

  • your insurer and membership/policy details;

  • your authorisation or claim number, where applicable;

  • details of the treatment or number of appointments authorised; and

  • any other information required by your insurer.

Direct billing can only be offered where the insurer accepts the individual treating chiropractor and where the patient's policy and authorisation allow us to submit the claim directly.

Not every chiropractor is necessarily recognised by every insurer, even where Hollybush Clinic works with that insurance company.

What you need to check with your insurer

Before your first insured appointment, please confirm:

  • that chiropractic treatment is included in your policy;

  • that your individual chiropractor is recognised by your insurer;

  • whether you need a GP or other referral;

  • whether prior authorisation is required;

  • how many appointments or how much treatment has been authorised;

  • whether there is a financial or treatment limit;

  • whether you have an excess or contribution to pay; and

  • whether there are any other conditions attached to your cover.

Your responsibility for insurance cover

Private healthcare insurance is an agreement between you and your insurer. It remains the patient's responsibility to understand their policy and ensure that appropriate cover and authorisation are in place before receiving treatment.

Although Hollybush Clinic will provide reasonable assistance with insurance claims and direct billing where available, we cannot guarantee that an insurer will approve or pay a claim.

If an insurer declines a claim, only partially reimburses a claim, withdraws authorisation, applies an excess or otherwise does not pay the full treatment fee, the patient remains responsible for any outstanding amount due to Hollybush Clinic.

If you are unsure whether we can bill your insurer directly or whether your chosen chiropractor is recognised by your insurer, please contact reception before your appointment. We will be happy to provide the information we hold, but we recommend that you also confirm your cover directly with your insurer.
